CAF award Houses of parliament -Louis year 11- winner

The CAP Awards, often celebrated at the Houses of Parliament, recognize innovative local partnerships aimed at reducing underage drinking and alcohol harm across the UK. These awards highlight efforts by Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAPs) to bring together retailers, police, schools, and health providers to promote responsible drinking.

Key details regarding the Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP) Awards:

    • Purpose: The awards recognize excellence in initiatives that prevent alcohol harm among young people, such as the "Where's The Harm?" campaign, which won a 2022 award for parental education.
    • Location/Host: The awards ceremony is frequently hosted at the UK Houses of Parliament, sometimes featuring MPs like Matt Warman to highlight the national significance of the work.
    • Participants: Over 350+ CAPs across the UK participate in these partnerships, aiming to educate children and young people.
    • Significance: Winning a CAP award at the Houses of Parliament validates local efforts to educate on the dangers of underage drinking, such as the risks to physical/mental health and brain development.

  • Xmas Panto at New woodlands 2024

    Wed 15 Jan 2025

The starts of the panto were the children!

On Friday 13th December 2024 Don Rae Academy of Movement & Arts visited the school for our customary panto. Each class participated in a workshop where they learned a song and dance and, in some cases, some actual lines to perform. Some children donned costumes. In the afternoon we sat to watch the pantomime based on the story of Frozen. Each class took a turn performing in a section of the performance. The show was great fun and the children all performed wonderfully. Thanks to Don and his talented performers for another enjoyable day of theatre.
